Soup Recipes To Soothe Your Dog's Upset Stomach.

Find out how to treat and soothe your pup's tummy naturally with a warm homemade soup.

Winter days are here, and many of us love a warm bowl of soup or even need one if we catch a winter flue.

The winter flu, though, also affects our dogs. So for health issues like digestive problems, vomiting, diarrhoea, or just because you want to treat your dog with something special, a bowl of homemade soup is a great idea.

The following DIY recipes are easy to prepare with a few healthy ingredients that provide our BFF with vitamins, calcium, potassium, phosphorus, and iodine. Plus, they contain fats, calories, and all unique amino acids.

Chicken and carrot soup

This soup is suitable for all dogs, for those that have malnutrition problems or with their skin or fur.

Ingredients:

  • 250 grams of chicken giblets, cut into tiny pieces (sweetbreads, hearts, livers) You can also use other parts of the chicken, thigh or breast if you like, but always remove the bones once cooked.
  • Two large carrots

Instructions:

  • Wash, peel, and cut the carrots.
  • Put all ingredients into a pot of boiling water and cook for 15 minutes or until chicken is cooked.
  • Let the soup cool before serving.
  • Remember: you should not add any salt or spices.

You can refrigerate the soup as you would yours.

Rice Soup with chicken or beef

This soup is good for dogs that have diarrhoea. Rice is a grain which helps restore your dog's appetite in addition to providing calories, vitamin E, phosphorus, and potassium.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups of rice
  • 250 grams of boneless and skinless chicken or lean beef

Instructions:

  • Cook the rice in five cups of water.
  • Chop the chicken or beef into very thin slices and boil in four cups of water until well cooked.
  • Add the rice and heat for 5 minutes.
  • Let the soup cool before serving.
  • Remember: you should not add any salt or spices.
You can refrigerate the soup as you would yours.

Sweetie tip: It's always better to cook these meals from scratch than using canned or packaged products, which may contain a lot of salt, which is our pets, enemy! In general, a good piece of advice is to know what ingredients are suitable and what not for your pup. Run through our previous post to see the list.
